What do we do?
Rivershore Reading Store is a mail order company that specializes in items that promote reading and libraries. We offer preprinted promotions, and also design and supply custom-printed merchandise for special events. These include summer reading programs, library grand openings, anniversaries, book sales, and referendum campaigns.
Who are our customers?
Our principal customers are libraries and schools, and the professionals who staff them. We also serve volunteer groups such as the Friends of the Library and PTO's. Ultimately our customers are the children who wear our stickers, or take one of our award ribbons home with pride.
What is our philosophy?
We prefer to think of our products as mementos of a particular reading experience, rather than incentives to read. Reading is always its own reward.
What are our roots?
Rivershore was founded in 1987 and is 100% woman-owned and operated. We started our relationship with libraries on the graphics staff of the Chicago Public Library in the 70's, and have fond memories of working in the century-old building on Michigan and Randolph.
Now our home is in Rock Island, Illinois, which is located on the Mississippi River. Augustana College is just down the street from us, and the students there are enabling us to bring you this website.
No more catalogs?
The move from catalog to website will give our customers more timely information on new items and clearance items. And we'll save a lot of trees.
Some added notes
Rivershore finds labor standards in some countries questionable, and does not believe that disadvantaged children should toil for our benefit. We do our best to supply you with merchandise made in the USA or Canada.
Rivershore is solely a mail order company and has no retail store or showroom.
